INET Patient Record Online Data Collection

NET

INET continues to develop new ways to field online data collection projects for patient record studies. Several of these include::

Online Patient Record Studies By Design; A researcher can be assure of not losing data when using an enhanced survey platform designed for patient records. One rigorous method that INET developed and employs is to divide the study into two surveys. The main survey and the patient record survey. Formula functions are use to enable a high degree of customization to fit a researcher's design requirement. Basically the formula questions control a respondent's navigation through the following steps (please refer to the diagram above):

  1. Enter the main survey.

  2. Respondent exits the main survey to enter the patient record survey

  3. Complete the patient record.

  4. Proceed back to the main survey to process the next record.

  5. When the patient records are completed the respondent completes the final questions in the main survey.

At the end of the study each patient record is captured in a separate data file and is easily linked back to the main survey using unique IDs.

Longitudinal Patient Record Data: Researchers may wish to capture data from patients over time and when the respondent completes the patient records, serve this data back to the respondent. How does this work. During patient record surveys a loop is used to capture patient data and each iteration represents a point in time. The data is then piped back to the main survey to be reused (ie. to evaluate a product concept.) In the main survey, the researcher can access all patient records for this back end evaluation.
